Planting Fields Foundation

Dear Peter,

     On behalf of the Trustees of the Planning Fields Foundation and the staff, I wish to thank you for supporting the Winter Festival to benefit the many projects throughout Planting Fields. Your design treatment of the Great Hall was the best blend of historic interiors and the whimsy and warmth of the holidays. Our visitors over the four weekends and our cocktail party guests were thrilled to see the house so beautifully decorated. 

     The Foundation has an ambitious year ahead. In late spring we begin restoration of the Carshalton Gates on Chicken Valley Road, and the restoration of the walled Blue Pool Garden. We are awaiting news of a possible grant to begin work on a visitor’s center in the former Hay Barn,and as always, we continue to monitor and restore the historic landscape features designed by the Olmsted Brothers. This coming year the Foundation will be hiring a Director of Education to begin the process of creating and education department providing innovative and comprehensive programing to our many audiences. 

     Without major fund raising events like the Winter Festival, the Foundation’s ability to partner with New York State in achieving programmatic goals would be severely limited. Thank you for enabling us to reach our buildings and landscape, and to know we have friends who value this unique and exciting place in the midst of our suburban sprawl.

Dear Peter:

       Thank you for your work on the Vermilion Gala. The Heckscher Museum and the tent looked stunning and added a great deal to the whole festive arena of the evening. You certainly are a man of talent and you should be very proud of the work that you did last Saturday night.

       The party its self went very well and I think that people had a great time. I certainly did and all those that I have talked to since it happened agree. I was also nice to see so many new faces in the Hecksher. 

        Thank you again for your work and the talent that you gave to us. All of us who are concerned about the Hecksher Museum are very glad to have had your help.
